About the event

Join us for a lively conversation about the backstory to these phenomenon: how France became a basketball breeding ground, the cultural, technical and leadership ties that fostered this development, and the impact of French basketball within the NBA and WNBA.

San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama made history this year as the first French player named as an NBA All Star Game starter and is widely regarded as the future face of the league. Meanwhile the Denver Nuggets coaching team runs plays first developed by Les Bleues while U.S. sports commentators lace their on-air commentary with French phrases when covering theWNBA Golden State Valkyries’ trio of French basketballers.

The thrilling gold medal basketball showdowns between Team France and Team USA at the Paris 2024 Games wasn’t a fluke, and the legacies continue to craft hoop dreams today.
